Climate of and season of the state
Though it has more or less a tropical climate like the rest of India, Kerala enjoys a more moderate climate because of the several factors lie nearness to the sea, the abundant rainfall and the presence of the high ranges in the east. But the climate within the state too varies according to the top gray. The high ranges have a cool climate throughout the year while the plains are hot and humid during summer months.Much of Kerala has only 3 seasons. – summer , spring and monsoons. The fourth season, the winter is said to be from Dec to January. But these so called winter months are also warm in the plains and so can be called winter only in the high ranges. The summer season is from Feb to mid april . But summer is not extreme like those in northern India.
Yet, due to global warming, temperatures can rise to 38’ Celsius . And then comes spring in May. The climate may have an influence on the temperament of the people. Like the moderate climate here, the people are also mild tempered. The sultry summers and heavy monsoons spread over half of the year, make moving outdoors difficult during this time.
